Mozambique is located in Southern Africa along the coast of the Indian Ocean between South Africa and Tanzania. It also shares a border with Malawi, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Zambia. Mozambique has some of the best beaches on the East African coast, offering azure waters, coral reefs and subtropical islands. Mozambique is the world’s 36th- largest country (after Pakistan) and it is comparable in size to Turkey and is somewhat larger than the US state of Texas. Mozambique is 309,475 square miles. The capital Maputo is located in the very south of the country, a stones throw from the South African and Swazi borders. Prawns are a Mozambican specialty and fisherman bring them in by the truckload around dusk. You'll quickly find that Mozambique is one of the friendliest places in Africa. Locals will welcome you with massive smiles and shouts of Bom Dia! Don't miss out on this amazing piece of Africa. There are two main seasons in Mozambique – the one is wet and the other is dry. The wet season is from November to March and has warm to hot days. The dry season is from April to October and has cooler temperatures during June and July. Designated conservation areas in Mozambique came under the jurisdiction of the ministry of Tourism for tourism purposes. It includes all present and future national parks and reserves and enclosures in the country. The aim was to give more emphasis to the exploitation of these areas for tourism and the development of ecotourism. There are five national parks and five reserves in Mozambique. Passports are required for all visitors to Mozambique. South African passport holders do not need visa’s. Other nationalities need to apply for visa's.
